Actress Kashika Kapoor has revealed the moment that changed her life and set her on the path to becoming an actor. In an exclusive conversation with IANS, the young starlet shared that Katrina Kaif’s electrifying performance in “Sheila Ki Jawani” was the spark that ignited her passion for films.
Reflecting on her journey from school dramatics to the big screen, Kashika spoke candidly about her early inspiration, parental support, and the serendipitous moment that launched her acting career.
“Sheila Ki Jawani” — The Turning Point
Recalling the memory that first drew her to the spotlight, Kashika said,
“I was inspired by Katrina Kaif’s ‘Sheila Ki Jawani.’ I watched her and thought, I want to do this. I want to be there. That performance made me realize what I wanted from life.”
At the time, Kashika was just a fifth-grader taking part in school plays.
“I remember being the show opener in school, and everyone was really proud of me — their praises made me realize that maybe there’s something in me worth pursuing. That’s how it all began,” she said with a smile.
From Hesitation to Support: Her Parents’ Role
While her mother encouraged her ambitions, Kashika admitted her father was initially hesitant about her joining the film industry.
“My dad was completely against the idea; he didn’t really like the industry back then. My mom, on the other hand, was very supportive. My dad said it was just a phase that would go away — but it didn’t,” she shared.
Over time, her passion convinced both parents to back her wholeheartedly.
“Eventually, both of them became supportive, and I’m so grateful for that. That’s how my dream started taking shape.”
A Chance Encounter That Changed Everything
Kashika’s first big break, she revealed, was a twist of fate.
“We were shooting for Ferns and Petals at home, and the director who came for that shoot told me he usually never takes up such projects but something made him come that day,” she recalled.
During the shoot, the director saw something special in her.
“He said, ‘I’m so happy I came because I’ve found my Geeta.’ He narrated the story and told me he wanted me for the role. It was a beautiful film based on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. I was so grateful — that’s what you call destiny and hard work.”
Interestingly, she even auditioned for the role in Telugu, marking her early foray into South Indian cinema.
From Bollywood to Telugu Films and Music Videos
Kashika Kapoor is now a familiar face across Bollywood, Telugu cinema, and the music video circuit. She made her Hindi film debut with the socially driven drama “Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass”, where her performance drew praise for its authenticity and emotional depth.
She later ventured into Telugu films with “LYF: Love Your Father,” continuing to expand her acting range. Over the years, she has also appeared in numerous popular music videos, showcasing her versatility and growing fan base across platforms.
A Rising Star with Purpose
Beyond the glamour, Kashika’s journey reflects a blend of determination, talent, and serendipity. From being a school performer inspired by a Bollywood icon to carving her own space in the entertainment industry, she represents a new generation of actors driven by both passion and purpose.
“It’s all about believing in yourself and never giving up, no matter who doubts you,” she said, signing off with a smile.

From a young girl mesmerized by Katrina Kaif’s dance moves to an actress finding her footing in Indian cinema, Kashika’s rise reflects the evolving dreams of a new-age performer determined to make her mark.
