Spain Denies Change in Position on US Military Operations Against Iran
Spain on Wednesday rejected claims from the White House that it had agreed to cooperate with US military operations linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran.
Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena SER, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said the government’s stance on the Middle East conflict remains unchanged.
“I can refute the White House spokesperson,” Albares said, stressing that Spain’s position regarding the bombing of Iran and the use of Spanish military bases has “not changed one iota.”
The remarks came after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that Spain had agreed to cooperate with the United States in its Middle East operations.
The conflicting statements highlight growing diplomatic tension as the United States and Iran face escalating hostilities in the region.
Our Final Thoughts
Spain’s firm denial suggests caution among European allies as tensions rise in the Middle East. The differing narratives between Madrid and Washington may complicate diplomatic coordination during the crisis.
