Couple Friendly Cleared With ‘A’ Certificate, Runtime Locked at 2 Hours 1 Minute
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared director Ashwin Chandrasekar’s Telugu romantic drama Couple Friendly with an ‘A’ certificate, paving the way for its theatrical release on February 14. The makers have also confirmed that the film has a runtime of two hours and one minute.
The announcement was made by UV Creations, which is presenting the film. Sharing a poster emblazoned with the ‘A’ certificate, the banner described the film as a story filled with “smiles, tears and love,” while confirming that the Valentine’s Day release will be in Telugu and Tamil.
Trailer Sets the Tone
An intriguing trailer has already caught the attention of film buffs. It opens with a tense moment, as a character urges the hero to return quickly with his partner, hinting that their absence could lead to serious trouble. What follows is the couple’s first meeting, set against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu, establishing the bilingual flavour of the narrative.
Shiva, played by Santosh Soban, initially speaks to Mithra in Tamil, only to realise she is a Telugu girl when her phone rings in Telugu. The trailer subtly highlights Shiva’s struggles, showing him being looked down upon by his own family due to his inability to earn, while Mithra, portrayed by Manasa Varanasi, faces pressure from her family to return to Chittoor and consider marriage.
Story Context and Craft
Circumstances eventually force Mithra to move in with Shiva, leading to a live-in relationship that slowly blossoms into love. Just when things seem to settle, Mithra expresses her desire to marry, setting up the emotional conflict that forms the crux of the film.
The film is produced by Ajay Kumar Raju under UV Concepts and presented by UV Creations. The technical crew includes cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman, music director Aditya Ravindran, editor Ganesh Siva, and art director Michael.
Our Thoughts
With its ‘A’ certificate and Valentine’s Day release, Couple Friendly positions itself as a contemporary romantic drama that isn’t afraid to explore adult relationships and social pressures head-on. The trailer suggests a grounded narrative rooted in real-life conflicts—financial insecurity, family expectations, and the complexities of live-in relationships—handled within a bilingual cultural setting. Santosh Soban appears to be stepping into a more emotionally layered role, while Manasa Varanasi’s character brings quiet resolve to the story. The confirmed runtime indicates a tightly packed narrative, and the film’s technical team adds confidence to its visual and musical appeal. If the film delivers on the emotional promise shown in the trailer, Couple Friendly could resonate strongly with urban audiences looking for realistic romance this Valentine’s Day.
