Lucknow, April: Yogi Adityanath has directed district administrations and police across Uttar Pradesh to remain on high alert ahead of May 1, citing the possibility of labour unrest following recent protests in Noida.
The instructions were issued during a review meeting conducted via video conference with senior officials, including district magistrates and police leadership.
The Chief Minister asked authorities to take strict action against any attempts to disrupt industrial peace. He emphasised heightened vigilance between April 30 and May 1, particularly in industrial zones.
Officials were also instructed to strengthen intelligence networks and closely monitor large gatherings, with specific attention to developments that could escalate into unrest.
The directive follows recent incidents of worker protests and violence in Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar. Authorities have attributed the unrest to “suspicious elements”.
More than 350 individuals have been arrested in connection with the protests, while multiple FIRs have been registered, including against social media accounts accused of inciting violence. Investigative agencies are reportedly questioning over 250 people as part of the probe.
The state government has also asked officials to keep a close watch on social media platforms to prevent the spread of provocative or misleading content. Immediate preventive action has been advised in cases of objectionable posts.
Separately, the Chief Minister flagged concerns over reports of attempts to incite caste-based tensions in certain districts, calling for increased alertness.
In addition, district authorities have been directed to monitor the supply and distribution of petroleum products, especially in areas bordering Nepal, and take action against black marketing and hoarding.

Preparations are also underway for the upcoming Home Guards recruitment examination scheduled from April 25 to 27, with instructions issued to ensure security and smooth conduct.
Amid prevailing heatwave-like conditions, the Chief Minister has ordered inspections of ammunition depots and firecracker factories to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety norms.
The state-wide alert reflects the administration’s attempt to pre-empt any escalation of unrest around Labour Day, while maintaining law and order across industrial regions.
