Tamannaah Bhatia’s First Look as Jayashree in V Shantaram Biopic Revealed

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia is set to portray Jayashree, the second wife of legendary filmmaker V Shantaram, in the upcoming biographical drama based on his life and cinematic legacy. Titled V Shantaram, the film features Siddhant Chaturvedi in the lead role and aims to showcase the remarkable journey of one of Indian cinema’s most influential pioneers. On December 9, 2025, the makers released the first-look poster of Tamannaah as Jayashree, generating strong reactions across social media platforms.
The makers shared the poster on Instagram with the caption, “Jayashree – The star of an era. The strength behind a legacy. A chapter returning to history.” Tamannaah is shown wearing a traditional pink Nauvari saree, representing the grace and elegance of the era Jayashree belonged to. Jayashree herself was an acclaimed actress, remembered for films such as Dr Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani, Shakuntala, Chandra Rao More, and Dahej. She played a significant role not only in cinema but also in Shantaram’s personal and creative life.
The biopic is being described as an expansive historical drama that traces V Shantaram’s rise from the silent film era to his emergence as one of India’s most innovative filmmakers. His films consistently addressed social themes, touching upon issues like women’s rights, dowry, community harmony and prison reform. The biopic also highlights key chapters from Shantaram’s real-life journey, including the establishment of Prabhat Film Company in 1929 and Rajkamal Kalamandir in 1942. Both institutions played pivotal roles in advancing Indian cinema. In 1932, Shantaram directed Ayodhyecha Raja, the first Marathi-language talkie, marking a historic milestone.
