On Wednesday, Gates is slated to attend multiple programs, including one focusing on the application of artificial intelligence for farmers.
Officials say that the co-founder of Microsoft will meet with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and attend other events connected to the "Jaga Mission" (a plan to improve slums), the "Mukta" scheme (a plan to create local jobs for the urban poor), and "Mission Shakti."
They said that the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment and the Department of Fisheries and Animal Resource have worked with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation since 2017 to find new ways to make decisions based on data.
In his blog post "Gate Notes" earlier on February 25, Gates said that he would be going to an Odisha town with low income where a government program is helping women learn the skills they need to do work for the government on building projects. He wrote, "Since 2018, this program has helped 22,000 groups of women finish more than 52,000 projects, such as building roads, drains, and toilets."
Gates said that he admires India's willingness to try new things, especially its digital public infrastructure (DPI). He also said that he was looking forward to seeing India's DPI in action during his trip.
I'm going to an agriculture tracking centre in Odisha state. This is where DPI is used by government officials to give real-time advice to farmers. This centre can keep track of 7.5 million farmers (even if they don't own land) and their crops thanks to Aadhaar.
This way, officials can see who is growing what and give them the right farming tips. It has also made a robot that makes it easy for farmers to get the latest news about their crops. "AI makes content specific to their needs and in their own language," he said.
'India's greatest gift is innovation'
Bill Gates wrote on his blog Gatesnotes.com that India's greatest gift is its innovation. "India's greatest gift is innovation. This nation has made several breakthroughs. Ancient Indian mathematicians are credited with developing decimals. India's recent accomplishments are saving and improving millions of lives worldwide."
Gates said he will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India to explore how the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation can help India with its ideas.
"The Gates Foundation has been a partner in some of these endeavours, and I'm travelling this week to understand how we can continue collaborating with India to help its ideas and technologies reach everyone who needs them. This week, I'll discuss this with Prime Minister Modi "He wrote.
The greatest gift India has is its ability to innovate.
It was said by Bill Gates in his blog Gatesnotes.com that India's capacity for innovation is the most significant contribution that the country has made to the globe. India's capacity for innovation is the country's most valuable asset. Important advances have been made in our nation during its long history. Calculators in ancient India are often credited as being the ones who first introduced the decimal method for expressing numerical values. Over the past several years, India has achieved significant advancements that are preventing and enhancing the lives of millions of people in India and all around the world.
During his trip to India, Gates will also meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gates has stated that the primary focus of their conversation would be to understand how the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation can continue to assist India with its ideas.
The Gates Foundation has been a partner in some of these efforts, and I am currently in India to learn about how we can continue to collaborate with India to ensure that its ideas and technologies are accessible to everyone who requires them, regardless of where they reside. The meeting that I have scheduled with Prime Minister Modi this week will focus primarily on this matter," he stated.
