Farhan Akhtar–led historical war drama 120 Bahadur is set to create history with a rare and unprecedented screening at the Rezang La War Memorial in Ahir Dham, Chushul, Ladakh on November 22. The event marks one of the highest-altitude film screenings ever, taking place at 16,452 ft, where the 1962 Battle of Rezang La was fought.
The screening is being organised by PictureTime, a mobile theatre company known for bringing cinema to remote regions. CEO Sushil Chaudhary confirmed that the film will be showcased inside the Rezang La memorial auditorium, located beside the iconic mountain pass where 120 Indian soldiers of the 13 Kumaon regiment made their last stand.
Chaudhary, who will be present amid the minus 10°C temperature, said:
“This is going to be the highest altitude screening for any film. We are proud that the story of this incredible bravery will be witnessed by the villagers and soldiers on the big screen. We will show the film for at least two weeks.”
Fourteen special shows will be screened for soldiers stationed in the region and for local residents.
The Ladakh premiere follows the announcement that 120 Bahadur will become the first film to release across India’s defence theatres, with over 800 special screenings arranged in collaboration with GenSync Brat Media, exclusively for Indian armed forces personnel.
