New Delhi: Bharat Gupta has announced his resignation as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jagran Prakashan and Jagran New Media, marking the end of his 25-year tenure with the organization.
Gupta stated that his decision stems from a desire to explore fresh opportunities and new perspectives in the evolving media landscape.
"It has been an extraordinary journey of learning, collaboration, and innovation," Gupta said in a statement. "Stepping away from an organization that has been such an integral part of my life is not easy, but I do so with immense gratitude and optimism. I look forward to embracing new perspectives and contributing meaningfully to the future of media."
A Legacy of Innovation and Growth
Gupta played a pivotal role in Jagran New Media’s transformation into one of India's leading digital publishing platforms. Under his leadership, the company pioneered several initiatives, including the launch of VishvasNews.com, India’s first fact-checking platform available in 12 languages, aimed at combating misinformation.
His tenure also saw an aggressive multi-language expansion strategy that ensured credible journalism reached diverse audiences across the country. Additionally, he led the creation of HerZindagi.com, a bilingual platform focused on women-centric content, which has since emerged as a key destination for empowering narratives.
Strategic Collaborations and Industry Recognition
Gupta's leadership extended beyond content creation, as he successfully forged strategic alliances with global technology giants like Google and Meta and collaborated with industry bodies such as IAMAI, INMA, DNPA, and IFCN. His efforts positioned Jagran New Media at the forefront of digital media innovation, earning the organization numerous international accolades, including prestigious awards from INMA, IAMAI, and WAN-IFRA.
Expressing Gratitude
Reflecting on his departure, Gupta expressed deep appreciation for his colleagues, industry partners, and stakeholders who contributed to the company’s success.
"To my incredible team at Jagran New Media and Jagran Prakashan Limited—your dedication, innovation, and commitment to excellence have been the foundation of our achievements," he remarked. "I am grateful for the partnerships and friendships built along the way."
Transition and Future Outlook
As Gupta steps away, Jagran New Media is set to continue its growth trajectory, backed by its parent company. The organization has named Gaurav Arora, COO, as the interim head of operations to ensure a seamless transition and sustained momentum in its digital expansion strategies.
Gupta’s departure marks the end of an era for Jagran New Media, but his contributions have left a lasting impact on the company and the digital media industry in India.
