PM Modi said that India has always been a fashion star and talked about a figure in Konark that shows women in old India who were stylish.
On Friday, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave out the first-ever National Creators Award. While giving the "Heritage Fashion Icon Award" to Jahnvi Singh, PM Modi said that India has always been a fashion star and referred to a figure in Konark that shows women in old India who were fashionable.
Indian dress has been the best in the world. A lot of people will be surprised to learn that some people think miniskirts and bags are signs of modernity today. One of the figures in Konark's churches that is over a thousand years old is of a girl wearing a miniskirt and holding a bag. “This means that even a sculptor knew about fashion in our country 4,000 years ago,” PM Modi said.
It was International Women's Day at the same time as the event, so the Prime Minister praised the progress women have made and how they have helped India's business. He brought up the fact that many of the award winners were women.
"In villages, women do a lot of work that makes money." "Our mothers and sisters do most of the work in the tribal belt and the mountains," PM Modi said.
During his speech, PM Modi also praised the skills of people who make material. He called them "internet's MVP" and said that their work was making a big difference in the country. Most Valuable Person is what MVP stands for.
