Shahid Kapoor Thanks Vishal Bhardwaj for ‘O’Romeo’, Calls It a Career-Defining Character
New Delhi: Actor Shahid Kapoor has expressed heartfelt gratitude to filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for giving him another significant role in their upcoming drama O’Romeo. The film marks yet another collaboration between the actor and director, whose past projects have been widely acclaimed.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Shahid shared a special note praising Bhardwaj for shaping a character he believes will remain etched in his filmography. He wrote that he felt proud, happy, and deeply grateful for the opportunity to play the role. Shahid also used the track Hum To Tere Hi Liye The from O’Romeo as the background music to his post.
This is not the first time Shahid and Bhardwaj have worked together. The duo previously collaborated on films such as Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon, all of which showcased Shahid in intense and unconventional roles.
Shahid has also confirmed that filming for O’Romeo has been completed. Sharing the update on social media, he described the project as his fourth collaboration with Bhardwaj and said the experience once again pushed him into a completely new cinematic space. He hinted that the film gives him a titular role for the third time under the director, after Kaminey and Haider.
The actor also praised his co-stars, including Tripti Dimri, calling their on-screen experience enjoyable and highlighting her performance. Shahid thanked Nana Patekar for their layered scenes together and acknowledged the warmth of Farida Jalal. He also mentioned Avinash Tiwary and Disha Patani, teasing audiences about their collaboration in two songs.
Backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film is slated for a theatrical release on February 13.
Our Thoughts
Shahid Kapoor’s continued collaboration with Vishal Bhardwaj reflects a creative partnership built on trust and artistic risk. Over the years, their films have consistently challenged mainstream storytelling and pushed Shahid into darker, more complex roles. With O’Romeo, expectations are naturally high, especially given the director’s reputation for layered narratives and character-driven cinema. If past collaborations are any indication, the film could once again redefine Shahid’s on-screen persona and add another memorable chapter to his career.
