Fahadh Faasil Joins Atharvaa’s ‘Idhayam Murali’, Begins Shooting for Summer Release
The makers of director Aakash Baskaran’s much-awaited romantic drama Idhayam Murali have officially confirmed that Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil has joined the project and has begun shooting for the film.
Production house Dawn Pictures made the announcement on social media, sharing a video clip of Fahadh interacting with the crew on set. The makers described his presence as one that “illuminated” the sets, instantly heightening excitement around the film.
Starring Atharvaa Murali in the titular role alongside Preity Mukhundhan and Kayadu Lohar, Idhayam Murali is positioned as a romantic entertainer with emotional depth. The film has already generated strong buzz, especially after Atharvaa dedicated it to those experiencing one-side love.
During the title launch event in Chennai, Atharvaa spoke passionately about the emotional weight of unrequited love, saying the joy, sadness and heartbreak of one-side love often leave a deeper imprint than mutual relationships. The film aims to capture that sentiment.
The title itself is a nod to the cult classic Idhayam, one of Atharvaa’s father Murali’s most iconic films. However, Atharvaa clarified that the title reflects a character archetype rather than nostalgia, suggesting that “Idhayam Murali” exists in everyone who has loved silently.
The teaser shows Atharvaa’s character navigating a love story layered with longing and conflict, beginning in the US before shifting back to India.
Music for the film is composed by Thaman, who also returns to acting with this project. Cinematography is by Manoj Paramahamsa, while Pradeep E Ragav handles editing.
With Fahadh Faasil now onboard, Idhayam Murali has firmly positioned itself as one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the summer.
Our Thoughts
Fahadh Faasil’s entry significantly elevates the film’s narrative weight. Known for his layered performances, his presence suggests that Idhayam Murali may offer more than just romantic drama. Combined with Atharvaa’s emotional pitch around one-side love and Thaman’s musical backing, the film has the potential to strike a strong chord with younger audiences.
