Simone Biles Swaps Spotlight for Camera as NFL Sideline Photographer
San Francisco: Simone Biles is used to being in front of the camera, but on December 28, the Olympic legend experienced sports action from an entirely new angle. As part of the NFL’s celebrity photographer series, Biles was given full media credentials, a press vest and a professional Sony camera to photograph the Chicago Bears vs San Francisco 49ers game from the sidelines.
Behind-the-scenes clips shared online showed Biles taking the assignment seriously while clearly enjoying the experience. Introducing herself with a smile as a “photographer for the day,” she was seen adjusting camera settings, testing zoom levels and experimenting with angles as the game unfolded.
One of her most talked-about moments came when she photographed her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens. Joking about the conditions, Biles quipped that “the lighting is bad,” even as Owens tried to assist. Despite the playful banter, it was clear she was comfortable learning on her own. She also made a light-hearted request to fans online, saying, “If y’all post anything, give me credits.”
Professional photographers on the sidelines were heard praising her effort, noting how challenging live NFL photography can be. Biles also joked about staying safe near the field, admitting she preferred a “safe zone” given the physical intensity of the players.
The night included other light moments, including a brief chat with actor Simu Liu, whom she asked about his team allegiance. The Bears eventually lost a close game 42-38, but the result did little to dampen Biles’ enthusiasm.
Our Final Thoughts
Simone Biles’ sideline photography debut showed her curiosity beyond gymnastics. From Olympic gold to creative exploration, she continues to embrace new challenges with confidence, humor and an unmistakable love for sport.
