Lucknow: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh once again, announcing that the draft voter list will now be published on January 6, 2026, and the final list on March 6, 2026. The decision was communicated on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Earlier, the draft list was scheduled to be released on December 31, 2025, following an initial rescheduling from December 26. The latest revision was announced just a day before the previously fixed date. According to Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa, claims and objections will be invited from January 6 to February 6.
He said the notice stage, disposal of claims and objections, and decisions on enumeration forms will continue from January 6 to February 27. After completion of this process, the final electoral roll will be published on March 6.
The SIR enumeration phase began on November 4, 2025, in 12 States and Union Territories, including Uttar Pradesh. The schedules of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands were also revised earlier.
Our Final Thoughts
The extension gives voters additional time to verify details and raise objections, but repeated rescheduling may also raise concerns over administrative preparedness ahead of elections.
