South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, returning to the playing XI for the second ODI, has shared his thoughts on India’s bolstered line-up featuring Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, while also offering insight into the Proteas’ long-term plans for building a new generation of ODI talent. Despite losing the opening game, Bavuma insisted the match was more competitive than the final margin suggested.
“We were only about 15 runs short. The fundamentals remain the same: start well, take chances when they come,” he said.

“If our top-order had contributed more, things could’ve looked different.”
