Jaipur: Sarfaraz Khan produced a breathtaking batting display, hammering a 56-ball century during Mumbai’s Group C clash against Goa in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 on Wednesday. The aggressive knock underlined his reputation as one of domestic cricket’s most destructive middle-order batters.
Batting at number four, Sarfaraz walked in after the dismissal of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a fluent 46. Mumbai were in a steady position when Sarfaraz joined his younger brother Musheer Khan at the crease, and the duo quickly shifted gears. The brothers stitched together a rapid 93-run partnership, with Musheer contributing a composed 60 off 66 balls.
Sarfaraz reached his third List A hundred in the 36th over, bringing up the milestone with a flurry of boundaries. His innings was marked by clean striking and fearless intent, as he repeatedly cleared the ropes against the Goa bowling attack. The 28-year-old eventually fell for a commanding 157, dismissed by Darshan Missal, but not before completely tilting the contest in Mumbai’s favour.
During his 75-ball stay, Sarfaraz smashed an astonishing 14 sixes and nine fours, showcasing both power and timing. His ability to accelerate without taking undue risks stood out, particularly in the middle overs, where he dominated spinners and seamers alike.
Before this fixture, Sarfaraz had featured in 40 List A matches, scoring 692 runs at an average of 36.42 across 29 innings. The century not only boosted his personal tally but also strengthened Mumbai’s position in the group stage of the tournament.
Our Final Thoughts
