Land-for-Jobs Case: Delhi Court to Decide on Framing of Charges on Jan 9
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday listed January 9 for pronouncement of its order on framing of charges in the land-for-jobs case involving former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, along with their children Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and Misa Bharti, among others.
Special judge Vishal Gogne of the Rouse Avenue Courts said the decision would be delivered after receiving a death verification report of one accused and a status report regarding the remaining accused. The court has directed all accused to appear in person on the next date of hearing.
The Central Bureau of Investigation informed the court earlier this week that another accused had died, raising the total number of deceased accused to five out of 103 in the case. The matter relates to alleged irregular appointments to Group D posts in the railways between 2004 and 2009, during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as railway minister, in exchange for land parcels.
Separately, principal district and sessions judge Dinesh Bhatt dismissed Rabri Devi’s plea seeking transfer of multiple cases from Judge Gogne’s court. The plea alleged bias, but the court declined to order any transfer.
Our Final Thoughts
The upcoming order on framing of charges marks a crucial stage in the long-running land-for-jobs case. With multiple accused and serious allegations tied to public appointments, the court’s decision could significantly shape the legal trajectory ahead. The dismissal of the transfer plea also reinforces judicial continuity as the case moves toward its next phase.
