Delhi-NCR Records Best Air Quality Levels in Years, Government Tells Parliament
AQI During October–November Shows Notable Improvement
Delhi-NCR has recorded its best air quality levels in recent years, with significant improvement during the October–November period of 2025, the government informed Parliament on Thursday. In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh said the region saw its lowest average particulate matter concentrations since 2023.
According to the data shared, Delhi’s AQI in October improved from 234 in 2024 to 223 in 2025, while November’s AQI dropped from 374 in 2024 to 354 in 2025. PM2.5 levels in both months also showed measurable improvement compared with previous years.
PM Levels Lowest Since 2023
The average PM2.5 concentration in October fell from 114 μg/m³ in 2024 to 108 μg/m³ in 2025, while November’s PM2.5 dropped from 246 μg/m³ to 223 μg/m³. PM10 showed a similar trend, improving from 249 μg/m³ to 219 μg/m³ in October and from 393 μg/m³ to 375 μg/m³ in November.
The minister credited coordinated actions, noting that the number of “good AQI days” in Delhi rose from 110 in 2016 to 200 in 2025.
Government Cites Stronger Coordination and Policy Measures
Singh said Delhi recorded its lowest average AQI in eight years, excluding the 2020 lockdown period. Very poor and severe AQI days reduced from 71 in 2024 to 50 in 2025.
He highlighted the role of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), set up in 2021 to ensure coordinated policy implementation across Delhi-NCR and adjoining states.
Final Thoughts from TheTrendingPeople.com
Delhi’s improving air quality marks a positive shift after years of severe pollution. While challenges remain, data suggests that stronger enforcement and coordinated action are gradually delivering results.
