Bihar Government Orders Heightened Security for New Year Celebrations
Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Tuesday directed officials to intensify surveillance at crowded places, markets, public venues and major intersections across the state to ensure peaceful New Year celebrations. The instructions were issued during a high-level video conference attended by all district magistrates and superintendents of police, as covered by TheTrendingPeople
The meeting reviewed law and order preparedness for December 31 and January 1, with Director General of Police Vinay Kumar highlighting key challenges during year-end celebrations. Referring to increased demand for liquor and intoxicants among youth, the DGP said police must remain on full alert. He directed officials to conduct regular raids wherever information about alcohol or drugs is received and take strict action against offenders.
The DGP also cautioned against the activities of biker gangs, stating that such groups should be kept under strict watch and dealt with firmly if required. Officials were further instructed to run de-addiction awareness campaigns in blocks, districts, schools and institutions to encourage public cooperation.
Intensive frisking and checking drives, especially in border areas, were ordered to curb trafficking of drugs and illegal weapons. Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh, ADG (Law and Order) Pankaj Darad and other senior officials attended the meeting.
