Pooja Bhatt Shares Powerful Message on Singlehood in New Viral PostImage via Instagram
Actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, known for her bold opinions and impactful film career, once again stirred a conversation online after sharing a sun-kissed selfie paired with a thought-provoking caption. The 51-year-old star posted the picture on Instagram on Thursday, writing:
“Singleness is not a curse. It is a sacred assignment.”
The post quickly drew admiration from fans, who praised her for embracing singlehood with confidence and clarity. Many users called her message “empowering” and “refreshingly honest,” especially in an industry where relationship status often dominates public attention.
Pooja Bhatt began her acting journey in 1989 with ‘Daddy’, directed by her father, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. She rose to national fame with the romantic hit ‘Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin’, co-starring Aamir Khan, which became the highest-grossing film of her early career. Over the years, she delivered memorable performances in Sadak, Junoon, Naraaz, Angrakshak, Border, and more, earning widespread critical acclaim.
Her personal life has also seen its share of public scrutiny. Pooja married VJ-turned-restaurateur Manish Makhija in 2003, but the couple separated in 2014. She has often spoken openly about the divorce, saying she “felt lost” in the marriage and was the one who chose to walk away for her mental and emotional well-being.
In the past, Pooja was linked to Ranvir Shorey and Sohail Khan, while rumours of her alleged romance with Aamir Khan during the shooting of Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin also made headlines. Aamir later clarified that they were linked by the media, but “never a couple” in real life.
Interestingly, Pooja was originally offered the lead role in ‘Aashiqui’ after Daddy, but she rejected it due to pressure from her then-boyfriend. The role eventually went to Anu Aggarwal, and the film became a massive musical blockbuster.
Pooja most recently appeared in the 2024 English coming-of-age drama ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ and was a finalist on Bigg Boss OTT Season 2, finishing as the fourth runner-up. Up next, she is set to star in a film exploring India’s pigeon-flying culture, where she will play the mother of Panchayat actor Jitendra Kumar.
With her latest post, Pooja Bhatt once again proves why she remains one of Bollywood’s most candid and fearless voices.
