Chhath Puja 2025: Ghaziabad Traffic Diversion Issued for Devotees at Hindon River Ghats
Ghaziabad, October 26, 2025 (The Trending People):
As the auspicious festival of Chhath Puja begins, the Ghaziabad Traffic Police has announced a special traffic diversion plan to manage the expected large influx of devotees at the Hindon River ghats. Over one lakh worshippers are anticipated to gather on the banks of the Hindon River to perform evening and morning Arghya rituals to the Sun God.
The traffic diversion will remain in effect from 2 PM on October 27 to 3 AM on October 28, ensuring smooth vehicular movement and the safety of devotees visiting the ghats.
Traffic Restrictions and Prohibited Routes
To prevent congestion and ensure the safety of pedestrians and devotees, commercial vehicles — heavy, medium, and light — will not be permitted near the Hindon Bridge and adjoining ghat areas during this period.
According to the advisory, commercial vehicles coming from Kanawani towards the Hindon Bridge will also be prohibited. Vehicles heading towards Seemapuri or Mohan Nagar via Meerut Tiraha must use NH-09 through the Diamond Flyover at Hapur Toll.
Traffic movement for heavy vehicles from Hapur Toll towards Raj Nagar Extension will remain closed.
Vehicles coming from Bhopura Tiraha will not be able to move towards Nagdwar or Karhaida via the Hindon Air Force Roundabout. Instead, they will be diverted from Mohan Nagar via the Link Road and UP Gate.
Alternate Routes for Smooth Flow
To ease traffic movement, the following alternate routes will be operational during the Chhath Puja celebrations:
Vehicles heading towards the Hindon Bridge from New Link Road, DPS Siddharth Vihar, or Meerut Tiraha should take NH-09.
Commercial vehicles approaching from Mohan Nagar must use the Link Road and UP Gate via NH-09.
Those coming from Meerut Tiraha can reach NH-09 via the Jal Nigam T-point.
Meanwhile, vehicles from Mohan Nagar may proceed towards Karhaida, Nagdwar, and Raj Nagar Extension, while those from Kanawani should continue via Vasundhara Marg.
Parking Arrangements and Devotee Guidance
To facilitate easy access for worshippers, specific parking areas have been designated near the ghats.
Devotees arriving from Meerut Tiraha can park their vehicles at Moksha Dham and Indira Priyadarshini Park, while those coming from Mohan Nagar should use the parking space near the Haj House.
The Ghaziabad Traffic Police has also set up a control room helpline at 9643322904 to assist the public with route information and emergency support.
Appeal for Cooperation and Safety
In their official advisory, the Ghaziabad Traffic Police urged the public to cooperate with on-duty personnel, follow diversions, and avoid restricted routes to maintain safety and order during the festival.
A senior traffic police officer stated, “With more than one lakh devotees expected at the ghats, managing traffic efficiently is our top priority. We appeal to citizens to use alternate routes and avoid unnecessary travel around the Hindon Bridge area.”
Special barricades, signage boards, and police personnel will be deployed at all key junctions to ensure a safe and convenient experience for devotees observing Chhath Puja.
Cultural and Civic Significance
Chhath Puja, one of the most sacred festivals of eastern India, is celebrated to worship the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya for health, prosperity, and well-being. In the Delhi-NCR region, the Hindon River ghats in Ghaziabad have become one of the most popular venues for devotees to perform the rituals.
The city administration and local committees have made elaborate arrangements for cleanliness, lighting, and security, transforming the ghats into a spiritual hub.
