Ashneer Grover Says Business Earnings Far Outweigh TV and Influencer Income
Ashneer Grover Opens Up on Life Beyond Shark Tank
Former Shark Tank India judge and BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover has revealed that, contrary to popular belief, television and influencer activities are not his primary sources of income. Speaking exclusively to IANS, Grover clarified that his earnings from the business world remain far greater than what he makes through media and public appearances.
‘There Is More Money in Business’
Addressing speculation that he is now earning more as a TV personality and influencer, Grover dismissed the idea as a misconception. He explained:
“If I am making more money doing TV, then people are mistaken. The money in business is many times more. I fortunately was part of two unicorns, one of which I co-founded, BharatPe. The amount of money in that is much, much bigger than there is in TV. Having said that, I don't take TV any less seriously. I do it with the same passion as I would any other business. But money, there is no comparison. There is more money in business.”
Success Defined by Numbers
When asked about his parameters of success—money, fame, or a balance of both—Grover was clear in his stance. Identifying himself as “numbers-driven,” he emphasized that wealth is the only tangible measure of success.
“For me, I am a number-driven guy. So, it's always about money. The one who has more money is more successful. The rest, they come up with good things to satisfy their hearts. But you can only measure money. Everything else is intangible.”
A Rare Achievement in India’s Startup Ecosystem
Grover highlighted his rare achievement of being associated with two unicorns in India’s startup ecosystem. With the country currently home to only about 110 unicorns, he noted the statistical improbability of one individual being part of two.
“Now I have been fortunate enough to be part of two unicorns. There are only 110 unicorns in the country. What is the probability that one person gets involved in two? It's a very low probability event. It's already played out in my life. Two very big companies have been created. Now if you have expectations from me, you can do third or fourth. What will the rest do?”
Current Endeavors
Beyond business and public speaking, Grover is presently hosting the reality show “Rise & Fall” on Amazon MX Player. The show features contestants such as Arjun Bijlani, Kubbra Sait, Sangeeta Phogat, Anaya Bangar, Aarush Bhola, Akriti Negi, and Noorin Sha competing as workers, while Kiku Sharda, Dhanashree Verma, Aditya Narayan, Aahana Kumra, Bali, Nayandeep Rakshit, Arbaz Patel, and Pawan Singh appear as rulers.
