Raveena Tandon Felicitated by Maharashtra CM for Her Environmental and Social Contributions
Mumbai | June 6, 2025 — Bollywood actress and social activist Raveena Tandon was honoured by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on World Environment Day for her long-standing dedication to environmental conservation, animal welfare, and social causes.
The ceremony, held in Mumbai, was a tribute to her efforts that go far beyond the silver screen. Raveena shared the proud moment on her Instagram, writing:
"Honoured for my work towards the Environment, from the hands of the honourable Chief Minister @devendra_fadnavis ji. On #EnvironmentDay. And to make my day even better, one little rescued baby kitty got adopted. Thank you @petaindia for fostering her till we got a home."
A Special Day for Many Reasons
The felicitation event also coincided with a double birthday celebration — for Raveena’s mother-in-law Reshma Thadani and her adopted daughter Chaya Malaney, both born on June 5.
But what made the evening even more heartwarming was the adoption of a rescued kitten. The little feline, nurtured by PETA India, found a new home that day. For Raveena, a lifelong animal lover and activist, the adoption was “the cherry on top.”
Beyond Bollywood: A Legacy of Service
Raveena Tandon has often used her celebrity platform to push for meaningful change. Over the years, she has emerged as:
- A passionate environmentalist
- A wildlife photographer
- A committed philanthropist
Her dedication began early. At just 21, she adopted two daughters as a single mother — breaking societal norms and winning hearts.
She went on to become the youngest chairperson of the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) and has served on the advisory panel for the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally acknowledged her for her work in promoting organ donation, and her Rudra Foundation has consistently supported causes related to children, women, and animals.
Pandemic Warrior and Global Voice
During the COVID-19 crisis, Raveena’s Rudra Foundation stepped up with real impact. In collaboration with Mumbai Police’s Deputy Commissioner (South), her team distributed truckloads of oxygen cylinders to those in urgent need.
She was also appointed as the Wildlife Goodwill Ambassador of Maharashtra, an acknowledgment of her tireless work in wildlife preservation.
Earlier, she made history by becoming the first entertainer to represent the Indian film industry at W20, the women’s engagement group under the G20 Summit framework.
Public Praise and Positive Impact
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while presenting the honour, praised Raveena’s “tireless commitment and multi-dimensional impact,” calling her a true inspiration for citizens and a “beacon of compassionate leadership.”
Her work continues to inspire the next generation of socially responsible celebrities and everyday citizens alike.
What’s Next?
While Raveena continues to be active in films and public speaking, she remains rooted in activism. Whether it’s rescuing animals, planting trees, advocating for children’s rights, or pushing for green policy reforms, her voice is loud, clear, and full of purpose.
