Prashant Kishor Intensifies Attack on Congress and Rahul Gandhi as Bihar Heads to Polls
Patna | June 24, 2025 - Political strategist-turned-leader Prashant Kishor has sharpened his criticism of the Congress Party, including Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, as Bihar gears up for assembly elections later this year.
Speaking to news agency ANI, the Jan Suraaj Party founder launched a blistering attack on Rahul Gandhi’s political presence in Bihar, questioning his commitment to the state and challenging his ground-level engagement.
"Has Rahul Gandhi Ever Spent a Night in a Bihar Village?"
Kishor questioned Rahul Gandhi's connection with the people of Bihar:
"Rahul ji keeps coming and going from Bihar, but doesn't really undertake any Yatra. If Rahul Gandhi has ever spent even one night in a village in Bihar, then tell me. If he can spend just one night in a village, we'll accept it," he said.
He further added,
"You sit in Delhi and laugh at Biharis. Then you come here to lecture us."
Demands Apology from Telangana CM Over Migrant Remarks
Prashant Kishor also took strong objection to comments made by Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, who allegedly referred to Biharis as being born to do labour.
"After becoming Chief Minister, he officially stated that doing labour is in the DNA of Biharis. Biharis are born to work as labourers," said Kishor.
He claimed the remarks were made to insult migrant workers from Bihar who were employed in key positions in the Telangana bureaucracy under the previous KCR government.
"Why did he say this? Because most of KCR’s officers had a Bihar background. So he was implying that Telangana is in a bad state because Biharis are running it," Kishor argued.
He demanded that Congress must apologise for such remarks, calling them part of a pattern of disrespect towards Biharis.
"What Happened to Rajiv Gandhi’s ₹50,000 Crore Bihar Package?"
Kishor also recalled former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's 1989 announcement of a ₹50,000 crore development package for Bihar and questioned the Congress party’s record of implementation.
"Congress remained in power afterwards. Where did that money go? Tell us what you did for Bihar?" he said.
On Caste Politics: "Modi's Success Shows There’s More Than Just Caste"
Shifting focus to the caste narrative often associated with Bihar politics, Prashant Kishor argued that the repeated success of BJP in Lok Sabha elections proves that identity alone doesn’t drive votes.
"For the past 15 years, the BJP has been getting a lot of success in the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar. Most people believe they are voting in the name of PM Modi."
He challenged the idea that every voter in Bihar votes based on caste, pointing out that Modi’s caste does not have a significant presence in Bihar, yet he still garners massive support.
"If every person is voting on caste, then tell us — who voted for Modi in Bihar? Because there is no one from Modi’s caste in Bihar," Kishor asked.
Rising Political Temperatures in Bihar
Kishor’s remarks come as Bihar becomes the next big political battleground in 2025. With the state assembly elections due later this year, leaders from across the political spectrum have intensified outreach efforts and political messaging.
- Congress, already under pressure due to coalition dynamics and previous electoral setbacks, now faces criticism for its disconnect from Bihar’s ground realities.
- The BJP, on the other hand, is banking heavily on PM Modi’s popularity and development promises.
- Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj, still a new player, is aiming to disrupt the traditional equations with grassroots campaigns and anti-establishment rhetoric.
Why This Story Matters
- Bihar has 243 assembly seats and plays a crucial role in national politics.
- Migration, caste, development, and leadership credibility remain key election issues.
- With new players like Jan Suraaj and aggressive campaigning by national parties, Bihar's 2025 election could redefine alliances ahead of the 2029 General Elections.
