India Declares 'New Normal' in Slovenia: All-Party Delegation Asserts Zero Tolerance Post Operation Sindoor
Ljubljana | May 27, 2025 — As part of India's intensified global diplomatic offensive following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi concluded a high-impact visit to Slovenia, firmly asserting India’s zero tolerance against terrorism and outright rejection of nuclear blackmail by Pakistan.
In a series of strategic engagements across Slovenia, the delegation conveyed a unified national political stance: India's “new normal” is no compromise on terror—whether across the border or through diplomatic channels.
Productive Diplomacy in Ljubljana
The Indian delegation met with Marjan Setinc, President of the Slovenian Association for International Relations (SDMO), and senior members of Slovenia's foreign policy community. The discussion focused on India's principled counter-terrorism approach, with the Indian side detailing its responses following the Pahalgam attack and the successful execution of Operation Sindoor.
“A successful Mission concludes,” the Indian Embassy in Slovenia posted on X, calling the visit "useful and highly productive" for building support and appreciation of India's uncompromising counter-terrorism doctrine.
High-Level Meetings Underscore India-Slovenia Synergy
The delegation continued its engagements with top Slovenian leadership, including a significant meeting with Marko Lotric, President of the National Council of Slovenia. The MPs highlighted the national consensus in India on zero tolerance toward terrorism and expressed gratitude for Slovenia's support, especially its firm condemnation of terrorism as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“We reiterated India’s firm stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism and discussed the evolving global security framework in the wake of Operation Sindoor,” said AAP MP Ashok Kumar Mittal on X.
Earlier, the delegation held talks with Predrag Bakovic, Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee, and Miroslav Gregoric, head of the India-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group. During the discussions, the Slovenian side echoed India's concerns, calling terrorism “pure evil that cannot be justified in any form.”
Slovenia Reaffirms Support Against Cross-Border Terror
In a crucial meeting with Vojko Volk, Slovenia’s State Secretary and National Security Coordinator, the Indian delegation stressed the global implications of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and the need for unified global action. Slovenia reaffirmed its unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam attack, calling for international accountability for state-sponsored acts of terror.
India’s ‘New Normal’ Gains International Ground
The visit is part of a wider campaign by India to globally spotlight its evolved doctrine post-Operation Sindoor. The message: India will no longer remain passive in the face of cross-border attacks. The delegation explained that Operation Sindoor was not just a military response, but a signal of a new diplomatic and strategic normal for New Delhi.
The bipartisan nature of the delegation—comprising MPs from the DMK, BJP, Samajwadi Party, AAP, and RJD—demonstrated that India's fight against terrorism transcends political divisions.
Engaging Media, Think Tanks, and the Indian Diaspora
Beyond political and diplomatic circles, the delegation also connected with Slovenian media outlets, academics, think tanks, and members of the Indian diaspora. Through interviews with major Slovenian newspapers and TV networks, Indian MPs conveyed the significance of India’s united front against terrorism, rejection of nuclear intimidation, and the importance of Operation Sindoor in reshaping South Asia’s security dynamics.
At a reception hosted by Indian Ambassador Amit Narang, Indian MPs interacted with Slovenian business leaders, scholars, and diaspora members, further strengthening people-to-people ties and strategic understanding.
Part of a Wider Strategic Campaign
Slovenia was the second stop in the delegation’s European itinerary, following a high-level diplomatic visit to Russia, aimed at securing broader support for India's anti-terror narrative and regional security efforts. These visits are designed to counteract narratives pushed by Pakistan and to reassert India’s position as a global leader in the fight against terrorism.
India’s all-party parliamentary visit to Slovenia, under the leadership of MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, is a clear articulation of a new foreign policy reality: India will not tolerate terrorism, nor accept veiled threats of nuclear retaliation. With growing international backing, particularly from nations like Slovenia, India’s global anti-terror narrative is gaining traction, and Operation Sindoor is emerging as a defining chapter in its evolving security doctrine.
India’s message to the world is now loud and clear: terrorism will no longer go unanswered, and unity at home will amplify its voice abroad.
