To honor the finding of the Raman Effect, National Science Day is come every year on 28 February. Every year on February 28, people all over the India celebrate National Science Day to remember and honor the work that scientists have done to help India grow in tecnology and in science.
CV Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman discovered a phenomenon of the scattering of photons in 1928, which he later named the Raman Effect in his honor he won the Nobel Prize for this work.
In honor of National Science Day this year, the theme is "Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat."
The theme for this year's National Science Day celebrations comes from a plan to get more people to appreciate science, technology, and creativity, as well as the work of Indian scientists who have used homegrown tools to solve problems and improve people's lives.
What is Raman Effect?
According to the website of the Ministry of Culture, the Raman Effect is a phenomena in spectroscopy that is defined as the scattering of photons by excited molecules at higher energy levels. This definition may be found on the website. It is the shift in the wavelength of light that takes place when a light beam is deflected by molecules. To put it another way, it is the change in wavelength.
When a beam of light travels through a sample of a chemical compound that is free of dust and transparent, a tiny portion of the light exits in directions that are different from those of the beam that is considered to be the incident point (incoming). The vast majority of this dispersed light has a wavelength that has not altered. Nevertheless, there is a small portion that possesses wavelengths that are distinct from those of the light that is incident; the Raman Effect is responsible for its presence.
National Science Day history
In 1986, the NCSTC petitioned India to declare February 28 National Science Day. It became National Science Day with official approval. The inaugural National Science Day was February 28, 1987.
The purpose of National Science Day?
The government says its purpose is to widely spread the message about the importance of scientific applications in people's daily lives, recognize scientific achievements, discuss all issues and implement new technologies for science development, give scientific-minded citizens an opportunity, and encourage and popularize science and technology.
National Science Day 2024 theme
National Science Day 2024 is 'Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat' Public promotion of science, technology, and innovation is the theme.
It also promotes Indian scientists' homegrown technology solutions to national issues. The public and scientific community, both domestic and international, must work together to improve India and mankind this year.
In addition to making India self-reliant via science, the topic emphasizes the necessity to solve global challenges.
In 1986, the Indian government recognised February 28 as National Science Day. On this occasion, theme-based scientific communication events are held all around the country.
