In a recent incident at a five-star hotel in Aerocity, a 37-year-old woman, identified as Jhansi Rani Samuel from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, was arrested for allegedly duping the establishment of several lakhs.
The woman reportedly posed as a "top lawyer" during her stay at the Pullman Hotel in Aerocity for over two weeks, celebrating the New Year.
According to Delhi Police, Samuel is accused of presenting fake and forged UPI payments and bank receipts, resulting in unpaid bills totaling between Rs 5-7 lakh. Additionally, she indulged in various hotel services, including a suite, spa, fitness center, and more, accumulating an extra cost of Rs 2.11 lakhs.
DCP (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani stated, "We had her bound down in the case after the hotel lodged a complaint on January 13. However, she has not been cooperating in the investigation. We have arrested her now." The charges against Samuel now include forgery and the use of forged documents in addition to cheating.
The hotel staff revealed that Samuel portrayed herself as a "top lawyer" and checked into the suite on December 30-31. Using fake names, she allegedly exploited spa and other facilities. The police were alerted when the hotel staff discovered fraudulent bank transactions during their inquiry. On January 13, when confronted by the hotel staff, Samuel reportedly hesitated to provide the actual bank statement and attempted to flee, leading to her detainment by the lady security staff.
During the investigation, it was uncovered that Samuel used fake apps and documents to showcase the fraudulent transactions. Claiming to be a divorcee and a lawyer, her statements are currently being verified with local authorities in Andhra Pradesh.
The Trending People contacted the Pullman Hotel front desk and the complainant (hotel staffer) for their responses, awaiting further details on the case.
