New Delhi, India – Delhi's Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot, inaugurated the 'Namma Yatri App' as part of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), ushering in a new era for ride booking in the capital. The app, operational in seven cities within the ONDC network, operates on a groundbreaking zero-commission model, aiming to empower auto-rickshaw drivers and enhance affordability for citizens.
The Namma Yatri app, which has been part of the ONDC network since its launch as 'Yatri' in Kochi in 2020, follows a customer-centric approach, having served over 1.7 lakh drivers, facilitated 2.5+ crore trips, and catered to the transportation needs of 40+ lakh customers.
During the inauguration, Minister Gahlot congratulated Namma Yatri on its Delhi launch, stating, "Bringing ONDC to Delhi and the launch of Namma Yatri app today will bring autos and other digital platforms to Delhiites’ fingertips. We believe this will also be a game-changer in multimodal integration in the future."
He emphasized the Delhi government's commitment to ensuring convenient journeys for the city's 40+ lakh daily trips, expressing confidence that the Namma Yatri app will play a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
With a strong focus on driver empowerment, Namma Yatri has already enabled commission-free earnings exceeding Rs 350 crore for drivers. The app, with a current rating of 4.8+ and over 50 lakh downloads, positions itself as a reliable and customer-friendly transportation solution.
The Delhi launch aims to on-board 50,000+ drivers in the next three months, contributing significantly to last-mile connectivity and enhancing overall commute experiences. Namma Yatri’s commitment extends to recognizing rides to and from the metro as special, providing enhanced services for both drivers and customers.
Looking ahead, the app plans to deepen its integration with public transportation through the ONDC Network, promoting seamless multi-modal transportation for sustainable travel in Delhi. The Namma Yatri app, with its mission to empower drivers by offering higher earnings, respect, and freedom, is set to redefine the transportation landscape in the capital.
