Ahead of the 77th Independence Day, 954 police officers from all over India have been recognized and celebrated with Police Medals. These awards highlight their exceptional efforts in maintaining law and order, ensuring safety, and showing incredible courage.
Out of them, one courageous officer of the CRPF won the President's Police Medal for Valour (PPMG), while 229 police professionals were awarded the Police Medal for Valour (PMG). In addition, 642 officers got the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM), while 82 individuals got the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM).
A significant number of the 230 Gallantry Awards were given to officers who have shown exceptional dedication in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism. Others hailed from regions like Jammu and Kashmir and the North East, recognized for their brave actions and dedicated service.
The honored recipients come from various police units, including 28 from CRPF, 33 from Maharashtra, 55 from Jammu and Kashmir police, 24 from Chhattisgarh, 22 from Telangana, and 18 from Andhra Pradesh. The rest are from different states, Union Territories, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
These awards, such as the President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) and the Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), acknowledge acts of bravery in protecting lives and property, and the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) honors remarkable records in police service. The Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) appreciates dedicated and resourceful service.
