Two Passengers Deboarded After Unruly Behaviour on Delayed IndiGo Mumbai–Krabi Flight
Mumbai: Two passengers were deboarded from an IndiGo flight operating from Mumbai to Krabi on Tuesday after they turned unruly during a prolonged delay before take-off, the airline said.
Flight 6E1085, scheduled to depart at 4.05 am, eventually took off at 1.21 pm after a delay of more than nine hours. IndiGo said the delay was caused by multiple operational factors, including the late arrival of the incoming aircraft, air traffic congestion, and crew members exceeding their duty time limitations.
Videos Show Heated Argument Onboard
Videos circulating on social media show several passengers standing in the aisle near the front rows and arguing with a lone cabin crew member. In the clips, passengers can be heard demanding to speak with the pilots while the crew member blocked access to the cockpit door.
Some passengers appeared visibly aggressive, hurling verbal abuse, while others recorded the incident on their mobile phones. Another video reportedly captured one passenger kicking the aircraft’s L1 door in anger.
Airline Response and Security Action
IndiGo confirmed that two passengers were declared unruly following their behaviour during the waiting period. As per protocol, they were asked to deboard the aircraft and were handed over to security agencies.
The airline added that meals and refreshments were served multiple times during the delay and airport staff remained available to assist passengers throughout the waiting period.
Our Thoughts
Extended flight delays can test passenger patience, but incidents of aggression onboard raise serious safety concerns. The episode highlights the importance of clear communication, calm handling of disruptions, and strict enforcement of aviation safety protocols to protect crew and passengers alike.
