Davos 2026: Elon Musk Makes Bold Predictions on AI, Robots, Space Travel and Human Longevity
In his first-ever appearance at the World Economic Forum, Elon Musk delivered a string of ambitious predictions at Davos 2026, outlining a future dominated by artificial intelligence, humanoid robots, autonomous transport and radical advances in human longevity. Speaking in conversation with Larry Fink, Musk painted a picture of rapid technological acceleration that could redefine daily life within the next decade.
AI to Surpass Human Intelligence
Musk predicted that artificial intelligence would surpass individual human intelligence by the end of 2026 or no later than 2027. Taking the claim further, he said AI could exceed the combined intelligence of all humanity by 2035. The billionaire, who leads xAI, described the pace of AI development as unprecedented and transformational.
Robots, Robotaxis and Space Travel
On robotics, Musk said Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot is expected to be available for public sale by the end of 2027. He claimed that humanoid robots could eventually number in the billions, driving an era of economic abundance.
Musk also reiterated that Tesla robotaxis would become “very widespread” across the US by the end of 2026, with planned rollouts in Arizona, Florida and Nevada.
For space exploration, Musk said SpaceX aims to achieve a fully reusable Starship rocket by the end of 2026, cutting space travel costs dramatically and making orbital freight commercially viable
Longevity and Life Beyond Earth
Musk described aging as a “very solvable problem” and suggested its biological cause would appear “incredibly obvious” once identified. He also joked about extraterrestrial life, noting that none of SpaceX’s 9,000 satellites had ever encountered alien spacecraft.
Our Thoughts
Musk’s Davos forecasts are bold — and familiar. While his timelines have often slipped in the past, the scale of ambition continues to shape global conversations on technology. Whether or not these predictions materialise on schedule, Musk’s vision underscores the intense race now underway in AI, robotics and space innovation.
