“Honestly, when you're doing a film, you're just hoping that at the end of the day it does well,” Rashmika said.
Box Office Performance
“Thamma” opened impressively on Day One with Rs. 25.11 crore nett in India. Within four days, the film has amassed Rs. 57.63 crore, according to sacnilk.com.
Rashmika added, “Expectations? I'm not very good with expectations. It's more of a relief once the film is out and people are enjoying it. It’s a sense of accomplishment.”
About ‘Thamma’ and Its Appeal
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, “Thamma” features Rashmika alongside Nawazuddin Siddqui and Ayushmann Khurrana. The film is set in a fictional world and includes a crossover with Varun Dhawan’s “Bhediya.”
Discussing why the horror-comedy genre resonates with all age groups, Rashmika said, “I think why this film—or any film in this universe—has worked so well is because we’re so rooted in our Indian folklore. These stories have always been part of our history, and now we’re finally showing them to people.”
She added, “It connects all of us together because we’re familiar with these stories, but it’s the first time we’re actually seeing them on screen. That’s why it’s being celebrated, and why all age groups enjoy it.”
Rashmika concluded with a lighthearted note on audience reactions: “It’s like mothers and fathers saying, ‘Yes, this is a story I’ve heard,’ while the kids ask, ‘Why didn’t you tell me this before?’ Those reactions make it all the more special.”
