Updating Aadhaar details could soon become much simpler for millions of Indians. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is reportedly developing a new mobile application, tentatively called e-Aadhaar, which will allow users to update personal details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, and address directly from their smartphones.
The app is expected to launch by the end of 2025, offering a faster and more convenient alternative to visiting Aadhaar enrollment centers.
A Digital-First Approach to Aadhaar Services
The e-Aadhaar app is being designed as an all-in-one platform where most Aadhaar-related updates can be completed online. Users will be able to make changes to personal information with just a few taps, reducing the need for physical paperwork.
From November 2025, however, biometric updates—such as fingerprints and iris scans—will still require an in-person visit to enrollment centers. Still, the new app is expected to handle the majority of demographic updates digitally, cutting down on travel time, queues, and delays.
