Shekhar Kapur Says He’d Need “A Lifetime” to Talk About Sridevi on Her 62nd Birth Anniversary
Mumbai, Aug 13 (TheTrendingPeople.com) — On the 62nd birth anniversary of legendary actress Sridevi, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and producer Boney Kapoor have shared heartfelt memories that underline her enduring charm and legacy.
Taking to Instagram, Shekhar Kapur — who directed Sridevi in the iconic 1987 film Mr India — recalled being asked for a soundbite about the late actress. His reply was simple yet poignant:
“It’s Sridevi’s birthday today,” said the journalist. “Can you give us a bite?”
“How long do you have?” I asked.
“However long you need?”
“A lifetime,” I said.
Mr India, co-starring Anil Kapoor and produced by Boney Kapoor, remains a cult classic, with Sridevi’s performance etched in Bollywood history.
Boney Kapoor’s Throwback Memory
Boney Kapoor, who later married Sridevi, also marked the day by posting a cherished photograph from her 27th birthday celebration in 1990. The image, taken in Chennai, came with a humorous anecdote.
“I wished her ‘Happy 26th Birthday’ while it was actually her 27th, to make her feel she was getting younger with each year,” Boney wrote. “But she thought I was teasing her.”
A Love Story Born on the Sets of Mr India
Sridevi and Boney’s romance began during the filming of Mr India. The couple tied the knot in 1996 and had two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.
Tragically, Sridevi passed away in 2018 at the age of 54 in Dubai after an accidental drowning, leaving behind a legacy as one of Indian cinema’s most beloved icons.
