Banki Mongra Begins Distribution of ‘Mor Awaas’ Certificates Under PMAY
In a major step towards realizing the vision of "Housing for All," the Banki Mongra Municipal Council in Chhattisgarh has started distributing ‘Mor Awaas’ certificates to eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
This initiative is aimed at ensuring that families from economically weaker sections gain access to safe, secure, and permanent homes, especially critical as the region battles the ongoing monsoon season.
26 Families Secure Homes as Rains Lash Region
Out of the 53 families selected under the ‘Mor Awaas’ scheme in Banki Mongra, 26 have already received their housing certificates, bringing timely relief to families affected by heavy rainfall.
These pucca (permanent) homes are expected to provide protection from leaking roofs and unsafe living conditions, which typically worsen during the rainy season in low-income settlements.
A Step Towards Dignity and Empowerment
Soni Kumari Jha, Chairperson of the Banki Mongra Municipal Council, praised the initiative as a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to provide dignified housing for all.
“Under the ‘Mor Awaas – Mor Adhikaar’ campaign, we are not just building homes but also laying the foundation for stronger and more empowered communities,” she said.
She also highlighted that the programme aims to uplift lives, not just through physical infrastructure, but by creating conditions for improved livelihood, health, education, and dignity.
Mor Awaas: A Model for Inclusive Development
The ‘Mor Awaas’ model under PMAY is gaining traction as a community-first, impact-oriented approach to housing development. It caters to both rural and urban India, focusing on:
- Speedy delivery of housing certificates
- Transparent beneficiary selection
- Focus on livable conditions during adverse weather
- Social inclusion through better amenities and neighborhood planning
With each certificate handed out, the campaign brings hope, security, and stability to families who have long struggled with makeshift homes and temporary shelters.
