Zain Durrani Opens Up About Last-Minute Casting and Chemistry with Shanaya Kapoor, Vikrant Massey in ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’
Mumbai: Actor Zain Durrani, known for his impactful performances in Mukhbir – The Story of a Spy, Bell Bottom, and Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz, is all set to return to the silver screen in the upcoming romantic comedy Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. The film, slated to release on July 11, also stars Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey in lead roles.
Speaking to IANS ahead of the release, Zain revealed that the most challenging part of his role wasn’t the character or the script — but the timing of his casting.
“The most challenging part was that I was finalised quite literally at the last minute — just five days before filming began,” Zain shared. “But overcoming it wasn’t such a big task because, somehow, I had already lived with the character post the audition.”
On Working with Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor
Zain, who has worked across genres and platforms, praised his co-stars for their professionalism and humility.
“Vikrant is an experienced actor, someone who has made his mark in the industry with years of hard work. Despite that, he’s grounded and extremely easy to work with,” he said.
About Shanaya Kapoor, who marks one of her major film debuts with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Zain added:
“Shanaya is already a known face, and with that comes a lot of pressure. But she’s humble, kind, and eager to learn. She’s keen to prove herself, and working with both of them was a smooth and collaborative experience.”
Why Zain Chose This Film
For Zain, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan wasn’t just another project—it was a return to the genre that made him fall in love with cinema.
“I’ve wanted to do a love story for a while now. I started my career with one and I want to keep coming back to it. This genre is what made me fall in love with movies, and that’s exactly what this film offers.”
About the Film
Directed by Santosh Singh, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is a romantic comedy inspired by Ruskin Bond’s timeless short story “The Eyes Have It.” Backed by Zee Studios in collaboration with Mini Films, the movie is produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla.
This film also marks the second collaboration between Mini Films and Vikrant Massey, following their successful remake of Forensic.
