East Coast Railway to Run Special Trains for Rath Yatra 2025
With the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri set to attract lakhs of devotees, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced special train services to handle the expected surge in passenger traffic.
These special trains will operate from Visakhapatnam, Jagdalpur, and Rayagada to Puri and Khurda Road and are designed to provide convenient and direct connectivity for pilgrims during the Car Festival (Rath Yatra) 2025.
The trains will run in both directions on specific dates around the Rath Yatra schedule.

1. Visakhapatnam–Puri–Visakhapatnam Special (Train No. 08313/08314)
- 08313 Visakhapatnam–Puri
- Departure: 00:45 hrs on June 27 and July 5
- Arrival: 12:00 noon on the same day
- 08314 Puri–Visakhapatnam
- Departure: 02:15 hrs on June 28 and July 6
- Arrival: 13:00 hrs same day

Simhachalam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Palasa, Brahmapur, Balugaon, Khallikote, Nirakarpur, Arugul, Haripurgram, Motari, Kanas Road, Delang, Malatipatpur, among others.

Why This Matters
The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is one of India’s biggest religious festivals, attracting over 1 million pilgrims to the holy city of Puri in Odisha. With such large-scale movement, rail connectivity becomes critical for managing the crowd, ensuring safety, and providing accessible travel options to devotees.
This year’s Rath Yatra will begin on June 27, with the return journey (Bahuda Yatra) scheduled for July 5.
