In a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused opposition leaders of making “anti-national” remarks following the Pahalgam terror attack, alleging their tone resembles that of Pakistan’s narrative.
Speaking at a mega public event in Deoria during the launch of 501 development projects worth ₹676 crore on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, CM Yogi said,
“Samajwadi Party leaders’ statements on the Pahalgam attack were such that they appeared like those of Pakistan's spokespersons.”
Condemns SP’s Response to Kanpur Youth’s Death in Pahalgam Attack
Highlighting the death of a youth from Kanpur in the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam (J&K), CM Yogi sharply criticized a senior SP leader for allegedly dismissing the incident because the victim “did not belong to his party.”
“This is not just insensitive, it’s shameful,” said CM Yogi, urging all political parties to speak in one voice against terrorism.
Mumbai-Based SP Leader Also Under Fire
Without naming names, CM Yogi also lashed out at a Mumbai-based SP leader for making a controversial statement regarding the Pahalgam terror incident, in which 26 people were killed.
The CM revealed that a Samajwadi Party national general secretary even went so far as to say that "Hindus have killed Hindus" in Pahalgam—an assertion CM Yogi denounced as an attempt to give Pakistan a clean chit and mislead the public narrative.
“Terrorism Must Be Condemned Unanimously,” Says Yogi
CM Yogi emphasized that India must stand united in the face of terror, stating,
“We have to move forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a firm resolve to eliminate terrorism from its roots.”
Attacks SP and Congress for Caste, Family Politics
The UP CM didn't stop at terrorism. He slammed both the SP and Congress for practicing caste-based politics and appeasement, claiming that these parties prioritize family interests over national development.
“Leaders who rise through caste politics only promote their own families once in power,” he said.
BJP Has Eradicated Mafia Rule and Encephalitis: CM
Listing the achievements of the BJP government since 2017, Yogi Adityanath said the region—once known for lawlessness, disease, and underdevelopment—has now transformed into a model of growth.
“Before 2017, Deoria was plagued by encephalitis, mafia rule, hunger, and communal tensions. Now, there’s development, peace, and prosperity,” he added.
He credited the BJP’s governance model for reopening the doors of development that the SP government shut by closing sugar mills and failing to create jobs.
Promises Infrastructure Boom and Employment
CM Yogi promised new highway projects to link Deoria and surrounding areas like Kushinagar with New Delhi, creating jobs and improving connectivity.
“Maha Kumbh and other religious events have become employment generators for the youth. Our focus is on development with public participation,” he emphasized.
