Ancestry.com posted on Instagram about Taylor Swift's connection to Emily Dickinson. The organisation called them "6th cousins, three times removed". This news stunned individuals and sparked diverse comments.

"Emily Dickinson and Taylor Swift, two famous American poets, are sixth cousins three times removed." Swift and Dickinson both come from an English immigrant who came to America in the 1600s. Swift's 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson's 6th great-grandfather were both early settlers in Windsor, Connecticut. "I guess we can say for sure that love and poetry are fair," they wrote.

Today reports that in discussing her songs, the singer previously cited the poet from the 19th century. "If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson's great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that's me writing in the Quill genre," she stated in 2022 at an event hosted by the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
