Sufi Heritage Festival Returns to Delhi’s Sunder Nursery with Music, Literature and Craft
The second edition of the Sufi Heritage Festival, powered by Aadyam Handwoven, an initiative of the Aditya Birla Group, will be held at Sunder Nursery in New Delhi on February 28 and March 1. Scheduled from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., the festival aims to bring together music, literature and craft traditions inspired by Sufi and Bhakti philosophies.
Conceptualised by Yasmin Kidwai and Himanshu Anand under the Culture Plus platform, the event builds on the success of its inaugural edition. The festival seeks to highlight spiritual traditions rooted in inclusivity, devotion and artistic expression while offering audiences an immersive cultural experience.
The two-day programme will feature Sufi musical performances, poetry recitals, spoken-word sessions and interactive workshops. A specially curated bazaar showcasing handwoven textiles and artisanal crafts forms a central element of the event, aligning with Aadyam Handwoven’s focus on promoting India’s weaving communities.
Organisers describe the festival as a multi-sensory journey designed to explore the shared emotional landscape of Sufism and Bhakti through sound, storytelling and craftsmanship.
Cultural curators say such festivals are gaining prominence as urban audiences increasingly seek experiential heritage events that combine performance with craft engagement. The initiative also reflects broader efforts by private foundations to support traditional art forms.
Events like the Sufi Heritage Festival highlight how heritage programming is evolving beyond stage performances into interactive cultural spaces. By combining music, literature and crafts, organisers aim to position Sufi traditions within contemporary cultural conversations.
With its expanded programming and focus on immersive engagement, the festival is expected to attract diverse audiences, reinforcing Delhi’s reputation as a hub for heritage-led cultural festivals.
