India Marks 77th Republic Day with Vande Mataram Theme, Grand Celebrations at Kartavya Path
India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on Monday with grand ceremonies and nationwide events highlighting the country’s constitutional values, cultural diversity, and military strength. The main celebrations took place at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, centring on the theme of the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram.

PM Modi Pays Tribute at National War Memorial
Ahead of the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial near India Gate. He also signed the visitors’ book, honouring the sacrifice and bravery of India’s armed forces.
Accompanying the Prime Minister were Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal A.P.S. Singh, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi.
The tribute ceremony underscored the government’s continued focus on recognising the role of the armed forces in safeguarding national sovereignty.
Leaders Extend Republic Day Greetings
On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi extended Republic Day greetings to citizens across the country, urging them to reaffirm their commitment to building a developed India.
In a post on X, he said, “Greetings to all countrymen on Republic Day. This national festival symbolising India’s pride and honour should strengthen our resolve for Viksit Bharat.”
The Indian Air Force also conveyed its wishes, reiterating its commitment to protecting the nation’s skies with courage and dedication. Meanwhile, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices of soldiers and called upon citizens to honour their legacy.

Police personnel conducted thorough vehicle checks at key entry points, including Gurugram, Singhu, Tikri, Kapashera, Badarpur, Dhaula Kuan, and Chilla borders. Surveillance systems and anti-terror units were also placed on high alert to ensure the smooth conduct of celebrations.
Authorities said the security measures were part of standard protocols for national events of this scale.

Beyond the capital, Republic Day was celebrated across states and Union Territories with flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes, and community events.
