Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launched in China with Leica Edition, Global Launch Teased
New Delhi: Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in its home market. The device arrives in two variants — the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra and a premium Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, reinforcing the brand’s long-standing collaboration with Leica in mobile photography.
Both variants share the same core hardware and are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which also features across the Xiaomi 17 series unveiled earlier this year in China. The Leica Edition, however, stands out with a distinctive two-tone design inspired by classic Leica cameras and a mechanical zoom ring aimed at photography enthusiasts.
Global and India Launch Signals
Xiaomi has hinted at a global rollout through a teaser posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle stating, “All-new Xiaomi flagships, See you in 2026.” The post suggests that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, along with the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, could debut globally next year. Xiaomi India has reshared the teaser, indicating a possible India launch as well.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Camera and Display Highlights
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a Leica-branded triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 50MP one-inch Light Fusion 1050L primary sensor. It is paired with a 200MP periscopic telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, the smartphone houses a 50MP selfie camera for photography and video calls.
The device sports a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2608×1200 resolution, and up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness, placing it among the brightest smartphone displays currently available.
Performance, Battery, and Leica Extras
Backed by up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra packs a 6,800mAh battery supporting 90W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wired charging.
The Leica Edition adds exclusive features such as a mechanical zoom ring for focal length and exposure control, Leica Moment shooting modes in 3:2 aspect ratio, a knurled frame, and the iconic red Leica logo.
Final Thoughts from TheTrendingPeople.com
With the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi is clearly pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography and flagship performance. The Leica Edition, in particular, targets serious mobile photographers with hardware-inspired controls and design. If Xiaomi brings these models to global and Indian markets in 2026, the 17 Ultra could emerge as a strong contender in the ultra-premium smartphone segment.
