Soha Ali Khan Raises Concern as AQI Hits Severe Levels in Major Cities
Mumbai, Nov 26 — Actress Soha Ali Khan has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating air quality across several Indian cities as pollution levels touched the “severe” category this week. Taking to Instagram Stories, the actress shared a picture of the hazy sky with a “toxic” sticker and urged authorities to introduce long-term systemic measures to address rising air pollution. She noted that people were breathing “toxic fumes” and appealed for immediate intervention as AQI numbers continued to climb.
Delhi and Mumbai remained among the worst affected. A thin layer of fog was seen around India Gate and Kartavya Path early on Wednesday morning, significantly reducing visibility. The Air Quality Index around central Delhi hovered close to 350, categorised as “very poor.” According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded an overall AQI of 337, only a marginal improvement from the previous day. Out of 39 monitoring stations in the national capital, 34 registered “very poor” levels while five marked “poor” air quality.
Mumbai also reported a drop in air quality, with six stations recording AQI above 200 — shifting the city from the “moderate” to “poor” bracket. Environmental experts have warned that stagnant wind movement and seasonal changes may worsen conditions further if not addressed urgently.
On the professional front, Soha Ali Khan recently appeared in the horror drama Chhorii 2, where she portrayed Daasi Maa. The film, directed by Vishal Furia, was released on April 11, 2025, and starred Nushrratt Bharuccha alongside Gashmeer Mahajani and Saurabh Goyal. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Vikram Malhotra, the film marked Soha’s return to intense dramatic roles.
The actress, who began her career with Dil Maange More in 2004, is widely recognised for her performances in Rang De Basanti and Ahista Ahista. She is next set to appear in the upcoming drama Bridge. Beyond films, Soha also authored the popular book The Perils of Being Moderately Famous in 2017.
