Mona Singh on Finding Peace in the Digital Age: “It’s Not About Cutting Off, But Setting Boundaries”
Mumbai, Nov 18 — Actor Mona Singh, who is winning praise for her performance in the new ZEE5 series ‘Thode Door Thode Paas’, believes that true peace in a hyper-connected world doesn’t come from rejecting technology — but from learning how to control access to ourselves.
Responding to whether a modern, working woman like her character Simran can realistically find balance away from screens, Mona said the answer lies in intentional availability rather than digital isolation.
“Peace comes from deciding when to be available and when not to be,” she explains.
“Even small boundaries make a big difference. It’s less about switching off completely and more about reconnecting with yourself and the people around you.”
On-screen chemistry with Kunaal Roy Kapur
The series also stars Kunaal Roy Kapur as Simran’s husband — a pairing Mona describes as effortless and emotionally grounded.
“Kunaal is effortless,” she said. “We connected instantly, which made our husband-wife dynamic feel natural. Our relationship in the show is built on small, everyday moments — glances, pauses, unspoken understanding — and he makes those come alive by being so present and attentive.”
Why Mona chose Simran
Unlike traditional “ideal woman” portrayals, Mona was drawn to the character because of her realism.
“Simran isn’t idealised. She’s strong but she doubts, stretches, learns. She represents so many women today who are doing their best in every direction. That honesty is what drew me to her.”
