Bhoomi Pooja Performed for New Police Station at Nakkapalli, Backed by Hetero Group CSR Funding
Anakapalli, August 17 – Minister for Home V. Anitha, along with Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Gupta, on Sunday laid the foundation stone (‘Bhoomi Pooja’) for a new police station building in Nakkapalli, Anakapalli district. The facility is being developed with corporate social responsibility (CSR) support from the Hetero Group.
The ceremony was attended by Visakhapatnam Range DIG Gopinath Jatti, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, and other senior officials.
Focus on Industrial Growth and Security
Speaking at the event, Minister Anitha highlighted Nakkapalli’s growing prominence as an industrial hub, citing mega projects such as the ArcelorMittal Steel Plant and the Bulk Drug Park. She underlined the need for a modern, well-equipped police station to maintain law and order and ensure investor and community safety.
“Under the NDA government, the Police Department has witnessed significant improvements in infrastructure, amenities, and technology. The new facility at Nakkapalli will strengthen law enforcement readiness in this rapidly developing region,” she said. The Minister also announced that new vehicles would be inducted into the department’s fleet next month.
Strengthening Policing Through Technology
Minister Anitha reiterated the government’s initiatives such as ‘Eagle’, a specialised mechanism to combat the ganja trade, and the ‘Shakti App’, designed to support women in distress. She noted that the department is increasingly adopting modern technology, including extensive installation of CCTV cameras across Andhra Pradesh.
Modern Facility to Replace Outdated Quarters
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta thanked Hetero Group Chairman Bandi Parthasarathi Reddy for extending CSR support to the project. He said the upcoming police station would be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities to meet future needs.
District SP Tuhin Sinha informed that the old, outdated police quarters at the site are being demolished to make way for a model police station, keeping in view the industrial and demographic expansion of the area.
Senior police officials including DSPs P. Srinivasa Rao and M. Sravani, Nakkapalli Circle Inspector L. Ramakrishna, and Payakaraopeta Circle Inspector Appanna were present.
