Tejashwi Yadav Leads 6-Hour INDIA Bloc Meeting in Patna, Seat-Sharing Talks Begin Ahead of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025
Patna, July 12 – With Bihar gearing up for a crucial political showdown later this year, INDIA bloc leaders held a marathon six-hour closed-door meeting on Saturday at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence in Patna. The session, seen as a major strategic push by the opposition alliance, focused on seat-sharing negotiations, coordination planning, and electoral transparency, as confirmed by sources in attendance.
The meeting brought together leaders of the Mahagathbandhan — comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties — as they prepare to take on the NDA government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Seat-Sharing Talks Begin, but Details Remain Confidential
Addressing reporters briefly after the high-level session, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and head of the INDIA bloc's coordination committee, confirmed that seat-sharing discussions have officially commenced.
"Yes, seat-sharing talks have begun. But I cannot divulge more details now. The deliberations are an internal matter, and we will make things public when they are finalised," said Tejashwi, who is widely speculated to be the alliance’s chief ministerial face.
Though the exact distribution of seats remains undisclosed, political analysts suggest the alliance is working to balance the demands of all member parties while presenting a united front against the BJP-JD(U)-led NDA.
Tejashwi Takes Swipe at Nitish Kumar: "Copycat Government"
In a sharp critique of his political rival, Tejashwi accused Nitish Kumar and the NDA of "stealing ideas" from the opposition. The RJD leader referred to recent initiatives by the Bihar government, claiming they were borrowed from his own political promises.
“The NDA government headed by Nitish Kumar is a copycat. They are stealing ideas like forming a Youth Commission (Yuva Aayog) and increasing old age pensions,” Tejashwi said.
He added sarcastically,
“I am sure ‘Mai Bahin Samman Yojana’ will also be copied by them soon,”
referring to his party’s promise of providing ₹2,500 monthly stipends to women in Bihar if elected.
Law and Order Under Fire: ‘Jungle Raj Is Back’
Tejashwi did not hold back in criticizing the current state of law and order in Bihar, accusing the NDA government of losing control over internal security.
"People are frustrated with this visionless government. The law and order situation is deteriorating rapidly."
When asked about Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s recent concerns about rising crime, Tejashwi retorted:
"He should go and tell the Centre that ‘jungle raj’ is prevailing in Bihar."
The term ‘jungle raj’ has historically been used by BJP leaders, including PM Modi, to criticize the RJD’s tenure in power. Tejashwi’s reversal of the term seeks to flip the narrative and highlight what he claims is a governance failure under the Nitish-led NDA.
INDIA Bloc Prepares for High-Stakes Electoral Battle
With assembly elections scheduled for later this year, the INDIA bloc is intensifying its campaign strategy. Sources indicate that the bloc’s primary objectives are:
- Seat-sharing finalization among all alliance partners
- Streamlining joint campaigns and public outreach
- Tackling voter concerns like employment, inflation, and corruption
- Presenting a unified leadership vision under Tejashwi Yadav
The closed-door meeting reportedly also touched upon electoral transparency and poll monitoring, amid concerns of EVM tampering and administrative interference.
Nitish Kumar's NDA Faces Anti-Incumbency
Nitish Kumar, Bihar’s longest-serving chief minister, is seeking to retain power amid rising criticism from both opposition parties and some of his own allies. The JD(U)-BJP alliance, while strong on paper, has shown signs of strain, especially with Chirag Paswan's repeated public discontent.
While the NDA has yet to formally announce its campaign strategy, sources say the ruling coalition is counting on Prime Minister Modi’s national appeal, welfare schemes, and infrastructure projects to maintain its hold on Bihar.
Final Thoughts from The Trending People
As Bihar inches closer to a pivotal assembly election, the stakes could not be higher for both the INDIA bloc and the NDA. With seat-sharing talks now officially underway, Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership will be tested — not only in uniting a fragmented opposition but also in convincing voters of a new political vision.
While Nitish Kumar’s NDA still holds institutional power, the INDIA bloc’s aggressive posture, social-focused policies, and coordinated messaging could create a competitive environment in Bihar’s political landscape. The next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether this opposition unity translates into electoral success.
