Parneet Kaur and Kushal Dalal lead India to three team medals in archery at the World University Games in Germany
Indian archers delivered a remarkable performance at the World University Games 2025 in Essen, Germany, winning three medals — one gold, one silver, and one bronze — in the compound archery team events on Friday.
The Indian mixed team of Parneet Kaur and Kushal Dalal clinched the gold medal in a thrilling final match against South Korea. The Indian duo rallied from behind to beat Korea’s Park Yerin and Seunghyun Park 157-154. The match scores by ends were 39-39, 38-39, 40-36, and 40-40. Their strong comeback in the third round turned the game in India's favour and ensured the top podium finish.
In the men's team event, India narrowly missed gold and settled for silver. The Indian trio — Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav, and Hritik Sharma — started strong against Turkey’s team of Batuhan Akcaoglu, Yunus Arslan, and Yakup Yildiz. However, a slip in the final end cost them the title as they lost 231-232. The end scores were 57-58, 57-59, 60-57, and 58-57.
Parneet Kaur, who was part of India’s world championship-winning women’s team, teamed up with Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Avneet Kaur to win the bronze medal in the women’s team event. The Indian team defeated the United Kingdom’s trio of Hallie Boulton, Chloe A’Bear, and Grace Chappell with a score of 232-224. The round-wise scores were 59-51, 58-58, 56-56, and 59-59.
With these results, India has once again proven its growing strength in compound archery on the international stage.
