Hyderabad, July 23 – The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Friday levelled serious allegations against Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of orchestrating large-scale phone tapping with the help of private hackers. According to BRS leaders, phones of 118 MLAs, 40 MLCs, 23 MPs, and even prominent personalities from various fields have allegedly been tapped under his direction.
Addressing a press conference, BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Dr. K. Sanjay claimed that phones of international participants who attended the Miss World Pageant in Hyderabad were also compromised. They cited a recent informal media interaction in New Delhi, where Revanth Reddy allegedly admitted that police officials would be involved in phone surveillance. The Chief Minister reportedly told his Cabinet that monitoring communications was necessary for governance.
The BRS demanded a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), questioning why Mr. Reddy was accusing former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, K.T. Rama Rao, and T. Harish Rao—who they claim never engaged in such practices.
MLA Kaushik Reddy also revealed that he had lodged a complaint on December 5, 2023, alleging that his and his wife’s phones were being tapped, but no FIR was registered.
