PM Modi Lauds SP MP Rajeev Rai for Operation Sindoor Diplomacy, Praises Nationalist Stance Abroad
In a rare display of bipartisan appreciation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai for his effective diplomatic conduct during the Operation Sindoor foreign outreach, underscoring a moment of national unity in India’s global positioning against terrorism.
Rai, the Lok Sabha MP from Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, was part of an all-party parliamentary delegation that visited Russia, Slovenia, Greece, Latvia, and Spain last month as part of India’s soft-power offensive to build consensus and raise awareness about Pakistan's role in sponsoring terrorism.
The delegation was led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and included other prominent leaders such as Shashi Tharoor and Ghulam Nabi Azad.
“You Did Very Well”: PM Modi to Rajeev Rai
Speaking to IANS, Rajeev Rai revealed that Prime Minister Modi personally acknowledged his contributions when the delegation met him at his official residence in New Delhi on Tuesday.
“When I gave him the letter I had prepared, the Prime Minister said, ‘You did very well.’ That was deeply motivating,” said Rai.
He further recounted how he had carried a detailed report with him, even though he was unsure if he would get an opportunity to speak during the informal feedback session.
“I simply followed what Netaji (SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav) had taught us, and as Akhilesh Yadav had reminded me, ‘National interest is paramount for the Samajwadi Party.’ That thought guided me throughout our mission.”
India vs. Pakistan: The Narrative Battle Abroad
Rai said India’s delegations were clear in exposing Pakistan’s role as a state sponsor of terrorism, especially in forums where Pakistani representatives were simultaneously lobbying to reshape global perception.
“Wherever we spoke, we presented facts — and facts speak louder than propaganda. No Pakistani official could match the logic or evidence we laid out,” Rai asserted.
He highlighted how the team raised issues such as:
- Pakistan’s global terror footprint
- The safe harboring of designated terrorists
- Misuse of international platforms like the Indus Waters Treaty to deflect from internal failures
“Even Osama bin Laden was found in Abbottabad. Pakistan has been involved in almost every major terror attack globally. This is no longer just India’s concern — it’s a global threat.”
A Non-Political Moment of National Unity
Rai’s statements struck a tone of bipartisanship and strategic clarity, echoing the Prime Minister’s call for united action on issues of national security.
“Whatever our political differences at home, when we are representing India abroad, we stand as one nation,” Rai said.
This rare convergence of political ideology — between an SP MP and a BJP Prime Minister — has drawn praise across party lines.
An aide from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) who attended the meeting told The Trending People on condition of anonymity:
“The Prime Minister was genuinely appreciative of those who treated this not as a political trip, but a national mission. Rajeev Rai was among those commended for his sincerity.”
Opposition MPs Shine on Diplomatic Front
Rai was not alone in being recognized. Other MPs in the Operation Sindoor delegation, including Congress’s Shashi Tharoor and independent leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, also reportedly shared feedback and diplomatic impressions during the informal session with Modi.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is currently compiling a consolidated report of all the international delegations’ inputs, which will shape India’s next phase of strategic diplomatic counter-narratives — especially at forums like the UNGA, G20, and inter-parliamentary unions.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Strategic Push
Operation Sindoor is a broad foreign outreach campaign launched in the wake of Pakistan’s aggressive lobbying in Western and Muslim-majority countries post recent tensions along the Line of Control. While military operations like Operation Keller and Sindoor dominated headlines domestically, Operation Sindoor's diplomatic wing is about winning the narrative war abroad.
Over 70 Indian MPs across party lines have participated in global delegations, giving India a diverse and credible voice on international platforms — especially useful in countering Pakistan’s accusations on Kashmir and human rights.
What’s Next?
Sources in the MEA confirmed that India is planning a follow-up phase of Operation Sindoor that will include engagements with African and Latin American nations, where both India and Pakistan are vying for geopolitical influence.
Meanwhile, Rajeev Rai’s statement has triggered speculation about whether the Samajwadi Party may seek to highlight his statesmanship during the upcoming Parliament session, especially as national security and foreign policy debates are expected to intensify.
“For once, we left our party flags at home and carried only the tricolour. That’s how it should always be when India’s credibility is at stake,” Rai concluded.
