'96 Sequel Will Only Happen with Original Cast, Says Director C Prem Kumar
Chennai, May 30 — Director C Prem Kumar has dismissed social media rumours suggesting that actors Vijay Sethupathi and Pradeep Ranganathan had declined to act in the sequel to his beloved romantic drama, ‘96’.
Taking to Instagram, Prem Kumar labeled the speculation as “fake news” and made it clear that if ‘96-2’ were to happen, it would only feature the original cast, namely Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha.
‘96-2’ Not Happening Without Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha
The director shared a screenshot of the viral rumour and wrote,
“This is fake news as usual. ‘96’-2 can ONLY be made with the original cast of ‘96’. I also clarify that actor Mr Pradeep Ranganathan was approached for a different story altogether. It’s got nothing to do with ‘96-2’.”
Prem Kumar expressed his growing frustration over such baseless claims circulating online.
“Day-by-day, dealing with these harmful fake news is getting increasingly difficult. I again reach out to the ethical press and media to establish the truth,” he added.
