Delhi Govt to Deploy GPS-Enabled Anti-Smog Guns in Industrial Zones from June 2025
New Delhi | May 23, 2025: In a significant push toward combating industrial pollution, the Delhi Government’s Environment Department will deploy GPS-enabled hydraulic anti-smog gun vehicles across major industrial zones of the capital starting June 2025. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), is aimed at reducing air pollution and dust emissions from industrial activities.
Advanced Anti-Smog Technology for Cleaner Air
Announcing the plan on Friday, Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the rollout would include eight CNG-powered trucks, each mounted with advanced anti-smog guns capable of spraying fine mist up to 30 meters horizontally and rotating 330 degrees, ensuring wide area coverage.
“These vehicles will significantly help suppress dust and airborne pollutants in industrial zones, protecting both the environment and public health,” said Sirsa.
The initiative aligns with the Delhi government’s broader strategy to balance industrial development with environmental sustainability.
Key Industrial Zones Targeted
According to Sirsa, the anti-smog gun vehicles will be deployed in the following key industrial areas:
- Patparganj
- Okhla Phase-III
- A Block & S Block Phase-II
- Jhilmil
- Nangloi
- Udyog Vihar
- Badli
- Bhorgarh
Additionally, two more vehicles will be kept in reserve for deployment in areas under the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Daily Sprinkling Schedules
Each truck will also be fitted with horizontal sprinklers covering the full width of the vehicle to simultaneously spray water on roads, using approximately 1,500 liters of water per hour.
Operations will be carried out in two shifts daily:
- Morning shift
- Non-peak afternoon shift (4 hours)
This structured schedule is designed to target the most pollution-prone hours of the day, especially when dust levels are typically high.
Previous Success and Government Commitment
The deployment follows successful trials conducted in Bawana and Narela industrial areas, where similar vehicles demonstrated effective dust suppression and pollutant reduction.
“This initiative has been undertaken under the guidance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and reflects our government's unwavering commitment to reducing industrial waste and strengthening urban infrastructure,” Sirsa added.
A 10-Month Green Drive (Excluding Monsoon)
The anti-smog drive will span 10 months, excluding the monsoon period, and is part of the Delhi Government’s mission to introduce eco-friendly innovations for sustainable urban living.
Experts say this targeted approach could become a model for other metro cities struggling with industrial pollution and poor air quality.
With industrial zones historically contributing a significant share to Delhi’s air pollution levels, this bold initiative by the Environment Department marks a crucial step toward cleaner skies. As these anti-smog gun vehicles begin operations in June 2025, residents and workers in these industrial clusters may soon breathe a little easier.
